Wind power systems for heat production, storage and supply of settlements, industrial and agro-industrial objects

This paper covers a subject, which during the past ten years has undergone an explosive growth. Until now the most common schemes employed for heat power production and supply the traditional heat only boilers on the organics fossil fuel are used. The existent systems for heat supply of settlements have the next restrictions: production of thermal power from non-renewable sources; greenhouse gases emission, wasting of environment; remoteness from consumers, high thermal power losses at transportation; high cost and low effectiveness of thermal energy production.

Wind power systems for heat production, storage and supply of living buildings include the next components: wind power turbines; water accumulator of heat; electrical heater and heat exchanger. Wind energy system for heat supply functions as follows. In wind weather the wind turbine transforms kinetic energy of airflow into the motion of the turbine rotor\. The electrodynamic system converts kinetic energy of the electrical generator rotor into electrical energy. Electrical energy is given to the electric heater that converts it into the Joule’s heat and thus heats the coolant in the thermal storage unit. The large volume of coolant concentrated in special insulated containers maintains warmth with the following using for heat and hot water supply of buildings and structures in the absence of wind.

At integration with other energy technologies based on combustion of fossil fuel, the wind power systems effectively provide heating of domestic buildings, communal infrastructure of settlements, as well as technological processes of industrial and agro-industrial objects. Such systems, in particular, can be used for heating of greenhouses, heating and air conditioning of grain elevators, cattle-breeding farms, as well as factories of primary processing of agricultural products. Depending on the purpose and location the wind systems for heat supply have various constructive solutions and power parameters.
